Boss on Poldi + Norwich Preview

Top of The Morning to y’all
The team steps out on the lush green pitch of the Emirates for the last time this season on Saturday against Norwich and we are getting close to that time of the year when there is nothing to look forward to on weekends. Personally, it’s my worst time of the year – those three off season months-I wonder what they expect fans like me to do when there is no Arsenal for a whole week. The international breaks are bad but the off season is worse. Naaaah am not selfish and I know the players deserve a rest after a long and hard season with games round the country and across the continent and those three months is definitely deserved.
To some team news this morning and it’s like the god of soccer just won’t let Abou Diaby play some football this season as the boss has confirmed that he will be out for the final 2 games of the season while Theo Walcott will be available for the final game against the Baggies and Mertesacker should be fit for Germany in the Euros after his ankle twanged against Sunderland in February.  I really feel sorry for Diaby. For a big lad like him with such huge potentials to battle so constantly with injuries must be so frustrating. The good thing though is that this season over and they can take time out in the off season to rebuild him.
Arsene says that Poldi will ease the pressure of goal scoring off van Persie as he can play from either wing and as the main striker.

“[He was on our radar] for a long time,” he told Arsenal Player. “He is a versatile striker - he can play through the middle, behind the striker, up front, on the left and on the right.

“That's what we like, and he can score goals as well. How many times have we been accused this season of being too reliant on
Robin van Persie? He can score goals and provide, and he is the class that we want.

He definitely is the quality we want and I can’t wait for next season to see the Van Poldi combination flourish. I think we have been hampered this season by our over reliance on Van Persie because as good as he is, he also needs a breather and so far this season, he didn’t get one throughout. But am not gonna look back and ponder about the what if’s of this season but rather I will look to the future and hope the mistakes from this season have been learnt and improved on.
Arsene Wenger will take charge of his 900th match as an Arsenal manager on Saturday and he says ‘I don’t know where the other 899 games have gone’. It’s a milestone any manager will be proud of but insists he won’t let the milestone distract him from the ultimate goal of the day which is to secure all three points from the game.
Norwich will have nothing to play for as they have successfully avoided the relegation battle but will like to finish the season on a high. Grant Holt has been very massive for them this season scoring 15 goals in all competitions and should provide their most potent threat to goal. They also got Anthony Pilkington who is pretty good with the dead balls and former gunner Elliot Bennett. Sp*ds and Newcastle winning in midweek mean we have no margin for errors on this one and only 3 points will do.
Our last meeting with them ended in a 2-1 victory with Van Persie scoring both goals after Marc Tierney had put them ahead and we would be banking on Robin to get the goals again. I hope The Ox starts along with Benayoun on either side of Van Persie with Song, Rosicky and Ramsey forming the midfield trio and Sagna, Koz, Vermaelen and Gibbs forming the backline. Lets hope the players give us a befitting farewell for the season.
Sorry the post is coming a day late, be right back on Monday for a new edition.
God Bless the Arsenal. Iree o
