Some More Transfer Mumblings

Top of the Morning to y’all
I woke up feeling very lazy this morning. It’s the sort of morning you want to wake up on after a very eventful Friday night and all you want to do is to roll back and forth on the bed till 11am. Not to add the steadily falling rains these past few days and the accompanying cold. Unfortunately I can’t afford that luxury as I have a silently running battle with my boss as to gets to work first between me and him. I have not won in a long time and I definitely did not win this morning. It’s like he takes pleasure in getting to work before 7am. Craps. But not to worry I’ll show him two can definitely play that game.
The familiar well-trodden merry go round of who will sign for us and who won’t and also who leaves and who stays seems to be taking up a bit of momentum in the past few days as a few names have been tossed into the transfer roller coaster and this morning its Lucas Biglia and he says Arsenal and Madrid have been in contact with him over a possible transfer. For me such things are no news as he is not the first to claim that we are in touch and he definitely won’t be the last. What irks me is the fact that it seems that Wenger and his coaching crew are not sure by now of the players they need to challenge for trophies in the coming season and they are showing interest in so many different players without making concrete bids.
Maybe am wrong in my judgement but the constant linking of half of all the players in Europe to us is very frustrating. Yes we have signed Poldi and Giroud will not discuss his future until after the Euros but what are the odds that we would bid for Giroud and sign him this summer. All these coming on the heels of increased speculation on Van Persie’s contract situation and Andre Santos has added his voiceto the growing concerns over the captain’s future saying he will talk about whether he will stay at Arsenal after the Euros.
As a top club in Europe, I don’t believe it’s healthy for our status if our best players are continually linked with a move away from the club every year. I always wonder why no one ever speculates about the future of Ronaldo at Madrid or Messi at Barca or Rooney at United. It never happens but Arsenal will always have their best players touted with moves away from the club at the end of every season. From Viera to Henry, to Hleb, Fabregas, Na$ri  and now Van Persie and really it’s frustrating and it says a lot about how other European clubs take us seriously. I bet the likes of Laporta at Barca and Perez at Madrid will sit back over a glass of coffee and say ‘Oh it’s just Arsene, toss him a few more pounds and he will release the players’.
As much as I love my team and want it to do well, it’s harder if at the end of every season we let go of our top performers in exchange for cash and brag about our healthy finances while our rivals brag about winning trophies with the same players they got from us. Its diminishes our status in the game and prevents our club from being attractive destinations for the top players in the game.
Meanwhile, Theo Walcott has praised Roy Hodgsonand says he knows that he has a lot of work to do to convince the manager to earn a starting place in the team. Theo has not started any game in England’s entire tune up matches for the Euros and Hodgson said over the weekend that “people have said that you need someone else in there when he plays”. I think Hodgson prefers to listen to the opinion of people whenever it suits him because if he listened to people all the time, then Rio Ferdinand will definitely be in the party to the Euros and of course the England team won’t have 7 Liverpool players in it. (Am still waiting for the eighth – Jay Spearing). Am not making a case for Theo to start every match for the three Lions but I think that the manager should select his team based on merit and on professional basis and not what the media people think or some baseless sentiments.
Finally for today, there is a piece on the bleacher report on the future of Denilson (who I still doubt if he is truly a Brazilian) at Arsenal. Here it is if you care to read it.
That's all for now folks as am going to spend the rest of the day playing football manager and that's where am definitely sure Arsenal will win trophies and Van Persie will sign a new contract. There, am the boss and have all the power in my hands. Buhahahahaha.
