Reading vs Arsenal Preview

Top of the morning to yall

Our last visit to the Madjeski Stadium should provide a stern warning to the team that they won’t be playing a team that would just roll over and die just because they have had just one win all season or are at the bottom of the Barclays Premier League table. They have some decent players that could cause us problems and the team would have to be well focused to get 3 points that we so badly need.

Like I said, Reading won’t roll over and die; they have been involved in some really interesting this season and our 5-7 victory in the Capital One cup where they took a 4-0 first half lead and the 4-3 loss to United at Old Trafford stick out. It shows they have players that can create chances and ultimately score goals. Our reputation for wobbling when we are least expected to might also count against us in this game and ultimately in the coming weeks as teams would play against us with some level of confidence that they can get something out of us. Just ask Bradford

There is good news in terms of team news as Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott are back in the squad and I fully expect them both to start tonight. the line-up might look something like Szczesny – Sagna – Mertesacker – Vermaelen – Gibbs – Arteta – Wilshere – Cazorla – Podolski – Walcott – Giroud. A strong enough squad capable of dispatching the bottom ranked team in the league without any fuss it would seem but nothing is as routine with this Arsenal team these days. Their inability to put a decent run of games together with good performances has raised doubts about their abilities of some of them to play for the club to reach fever pitch in recent weeks and they can do themselves and the manager and most especially the fans a world of good by collecting 3points tonight.

Jack Wilshere is said to be close to agreeing a new deal at the club while others such as Ramsey, Gibbs and Chamberlain are also in talks to discuss their respective futures at the Emirates. It’s good news from every way you look at it. Brooding a team with a core of young English players would be great for the club as they are less likely to feel home sick in their prime years but the need for trophies – assuming we are still in this situation in the not too distant future – could definitely send these players to the exit door.
Sticking with Wilshere, he has called for the team to step up and be counted

We have got some great leaders in this team - people like Thomas Vermaelen and Mikel Arteta, Wilshere said. But all the players can lead by example. We all have to step up now, it's a tough time but we have to stick together and be united.

A lot of people are criticising the manager at the moment, but there will be a time when they look at the players and ask questions of us. We don't want that, so we have to step up and be counted.I think technically we are probably the best team out there. We keep the ball well and

that's what we have to try to do against Reading. We need to try to create chances, outplay them and also remember our defensive duties.

You cant fault his spirit. He is one of the few Arsenal fans that are in the squad and am sure our current predicament hurts him as much as the rest of us. He makes a good point when he said we are probably the best team technically. We have guys like him, Arteta, Cazorla, Podolski with all his experience, we should really not be struggling to beat the likes of Bradford as these are experienced and proven internationals but we find it difficult to create chances in games. Arsenal are the team to have completed the most passes in the EPL this season and Mikel Arteta has completed the most passes by any player but most are lazy players sideways or backwards without real penetration and drive.

We should defeat Reading tonight, I suspect the players would want to show a response after last Tuesday’s debacle but one cant rule out the possibility of Reading causing an upset. I pray that happens not.
That's all for now folks would be back on Wednesday for another edition. God bless the Arsenal, iree o.
