The dust seems to have finally settled in and around the Emirates on reactions and criticisms that trailed last Sundays loss to Man Utd. The substitution of The Ox generated so much boos during the game that one would think that was Nature Boy Rick Flair being introduced into the ring. Loads of shit, smelly enough to circulate the tiny island of Barbados has been spread round the media and Robin was quick to quell the smelly situation and now Barbadians are safe. Thank God we got Robin so screw Batman.
I dont know if its another backlash from last Sunday's game against United but reports this morning suggest that Madrid are considering a swoop for Wenger. Thats right OUR WENGER. Its not the first time that Madrid have made a move for him as they did just that in 2009 and really they are becoming a REAL bore. With all the critiscisms surrounding the manager right now and all do they really think that Arsene will abandon his team right now? For what? Look around the Emirates, everything has Arsene's name and stamp on it. Arsene's influence transcends the football pitch as he wields power both on and off it.
Bringing the club from Highbury which had a capacity of a mere 38000 to the ultra modern Emirates with a capacity of 60000, constructing a new training complex and most recently a modern medical center which well Robin Van Persie is still fit right? then they must be doing something right . Wenger is also being held in high regard by the Arsenal board as he understands the financial and footballing structure of the club and upholds it religiously to the appreciation of the club owners. Arsenal is one of the most well run clubs in Europe and you have to give Wenger credit because this is definately where the club was when he came back in 1996. Arsene has spent 15 years as manager already and is the clubs longest serving and most successful with several premier league and cup titles to his name as well as nuturing the club to play a brand of football that is rivalled in Europe only by the Cesc thieves of Catalonia.
It might be argued that Wenger has made his mark in London and its time to move on to some other challenges elsewhere but dont forget that one of the most outstanding attributes of the man is his loyalty -which sometimes works against him- and one thing a loyal person will not do is to leave when he is needed the most.
Tomas Rosciky is out of contract in the summer and his Mr 20% Pavel Paska flew to London to meet with the manager to discuss his future and after meeting with Wenger, he said
“We have outlined our ideas and Arsenal their ideas. We have exchanged some pieces of information and agreed on making the final decision on 15th February. Everything is wide open. Naturally, I have talked with Tomas and know his wishes, but until the next talks with Arsenal we will not reveal our cards."
I think thats a little aloof and could unsettle the player but knowing Wenger of old who rarely offers players above 30yrs olds a new deal and the Wenger we now know who bring in 34yr olds in on loan, I think Tomas might be offered a new deal. No doubt about his talent as he is a good playmaker who in his days in Germany was dubbed 'Little Mozart' but injuries have prevented him from fulfilling the huge potentials he showed when he first arrived in 2006. He is a useful player to have around and could provide the necessary influence for other young midfielders need in crucial moment in games. I also feel he would want another chance to prove to Arsenal fans what he can do in the team.
Thats it about that and the next game is on Sunday- 3 Sunday games in a row now for us- and its the FA cup weekend against Aston Villa. Its a must win game and am sure the lads know that as well as that remains our only realistic chance of landing silverware this season. It comes up at 4:30 pm Nigerian time and good luck to y'all wherever ur watching it from.
Till Monday for a review of the game and more, God bless the Arsenal. Iree o
