Lets Get the Year Rolling

Top of the morning to y’all
It’s been a fascinating weekend of classy, scruffy, icy & annoying action in the EPL this weekend. But I guess the spice is still what makes it the best league in the world.
Arsenal finally got the year rolling, thank God for that, and what a stylish fashion to do it. And to think another loss on Saturday would have sparked up bin bag protest against Arsene....Well I guess the protests can be postponed till the next 3 consecutive league defeats, ‘cos that game would definitely be hard to forget. The players had an objective; get on the pitch & annihilate Blackburn, period!!! And it was evident, taking them all of an amazing 82 “long” seconds to get on the score sheet. Theo Walcott raced down the flank to release a perfect cut back for his captain who would tuck it home for his 1st of 3 amazingly similar goals. The assist brought back memories of a vibrant & industrious Theo who ran 38yr old Maldini ragged in our UCL clash at the San-Siro. “Talk about Blast from the Past”.
Well it was a sign of great things to come as we totally dominated play with The Gunners making the trade mark strings of 20 to 25 consecutive passes. Arteta & Song combining superbly in the centre with Rosicky. The game went on in due course without Blackburn not as much as getting a shot to trouble Schezny in goal, well that was the case till Koscielny hauled down Modeste 25 yards out, to my horror, Pedersen stepped up and riffled an absolute stunner. Even our goalkeeping wonder kid couldn’t get enough on the shot to turn it away as the ball hit its destined destination with some aplomb. The first half had other major talking points; Rosicky’s careless tackle was lucky to go unpunished, while Gael Givet’s short moment of mental miscalculation effectively ended the game for his team as they went a man down.
From that point on, it was all Arsenal as Alex Song threaded a searching through ball for the raging Walcott who bolted after the ball & pulled back a perfect cut-back once again for his skipper who tucked it away easily for his second. Song’s vision was inch perfect in the build up to the goal. And then it was time for RvP to turn provider & he did with a Fabregas-Like, blind through ball for the brilliant Oxlade-Chamberlain, who’s lovely first touch put him in a perfect position to round the clueless Paul Robinson who having a very forgettable game indeed. 3-1 it was then.
But Arsenal were not just done yet. More nifty footwork from Couqelin & a lovely combo with the in-form Walcott & in came a cross for the Verminator who stuck a foot at the ball but could only find the upright. Arsenal finishing the half with the game in the bag.
But the boys were nowhere near done with the Rovers squad just yet, ‘cos the restart meant more assault on the Blackburn defence & soon after an Nzonzi clearance from an RvP corner, Mikel Arteta latched on the ball with a thunderous drive to score his fourth of the season, all thanks to a mean deflection though. And then it was the star of the day again, AOC. After taking on 3 Blackburn defenders to set up a teasing cross at the other end for Arteta who volleyed wildly, he was rewarded by a neat piece of dribbling from Theo Walcott, who danced & tweaked through a rather perplexed Rovers defence to set up Chamberlain, who had enough composure in his skull to cut the ball on his right foot before firing through the legs of a defender to get his first EPL brace. And my did he celebrate nicely too, doing the lovely re-jerk dance step; a far better dance step than Adebayor’s swaying body movement I must say.
And then it was time for RvP to grab his third, as the enterprising Couqelin played in a low cross for the skipper who right-footed the ball home neatly, 6-1 & we were on cruise control. AOC came off without boos, Benayoun fired straight into the keepers arms and Arsenal kept possession without fuss, that was as much as the game could get, or so we all thought; then Henry stole the ball from an exhausted Rovers defender, fed Van-Persie who was kind enough to return the pass, and typical Henry, side-footed the ball & with the help of a ricochet scored his 228th Arsenal goal and continued the fairytale return.
Wenger said after the game;
“We got the performance & result we needed” he also went further to praise captain VanTastic saying “His movement in the box should be shown in every football school, He is Deadly”.
 I just have to agree with that statement, seeing the way RvP  placed himself in those positions was just amazing. His off-the-ball movement is a joy to behold.
A perfect ending to an absolutely perfect day for the Arsenal Faithful. But the same can’t be said for Chelsea fans who I must say “should” feel hard done-by by some porous & criminal refereeing. And to  cap their grieving with insults; Old Man Fergie came into the press conference with a straight face & a dissatisfied tone, saying his team should have gotten as much as four penalties in the game; what effrontery!!! Maybe he thinks we’re all starring at the back of our TVs or something. I really do wish FIFA can approve the video replays into use, teams like United would definitely loose more often if that happens, I’m so sure of that. And I also wish Howard Webb could be boiled in a stew of his own urine, *talk about wishful thinking*, but I know with old man Fergie around, it certainly won’t happen.
It’s certainly has been an exciting weekend, so till Wednesday when we bring y’all another exciting blog; God Bless The Arsenal..............Iree o
